Christmas Cookies, cookies and more cookies...

I never thought I would see the day when my kids don't even care that I am making cookies or that they would ever turn them down. But it is here. They have passed on my cookies. (Well my son will eat them when he feels like eating that is, he is two and doesn't eat much of anything.) And as for my daughter, the cookies are made, iced and leave the house... so she is just resigned to the fact the "cookie always leaves"... and then she moves onto the candy canes and peppermints and Chocolate kisses.... gotta love this season!!

Here are just some of the Christmas cookies I have been making for friends, teachers, schools etc these past few weeks. I felt so rushed, I didn't get to do anything "cool"- just clean, plain, simple cookies. There's nothing wrong with a plain Jane right!?

I tried two chocolate cookie recipe's this year. A regular chocolate and "Hershey's Dark"... yum!

All boxed, bagged and ready to go! Not all shown, but I got these super cute cookie boxes at Target's dollar section this year! Love that store!!
 Platters of mini's!
 Gifts for Preschool class :)

Guest Post: Frosting for the Cause

Ok, I seem to sometimes forget that I have a blog. Well truth is sometimes I forget alot of things. But I remember the kids and that is the important thing right? This time of the year is crazy enough with the holidays but add cookies to that and it is ridiculous!

I hope I haven't diminished the honor of guest posting on Frosting for the Cause with my lack of blogging, because it sure was my pleasure. Please check out this site and join if you can. There are some really cool recipes there and some names you may recognize as well!

I decided to stay away from posting any of my decorated cookies, you can see enough of them here and on my Facebook site. But instead, since I was writing about my Dad, I posted one of my Mom's cookie recipes that he loves. The best thing was that Mom was in town during this time to help me with some of the pictures. She was happy that I only showed her hands ;)

So here it is, from back on December 2nd. Mom's Almond Lace Cookies! And here he is... my Daddy, me and my big Sis... Oh and don't let that picture fool you, it was only taken 24 yrs ago ;)

Happy Birthday Iggie!

Iggie is a little boy who has alot of people who love him. And when I mean alot I mean alot- 100 to be exact! I made 120 cookies for his party and another 20 for his classmates. Whew! He and his friends enjoyed his sports birthday with a little help from a special guest, Southpaw, the White Sox mascot. Hence the lime green colors. Everyone had a blast! Happy Birthday Iggie!!!!

Halloween Cookies

What's the saying... "Better late than never?" Here are a few of the Halloween cookies I made last week. The spiders were inspired by Marian over at Sweetopia. The Franks were a headstone cutter turned upside down and modified. They sure were fun to do!

Madison's Rainbow Birthday

Well its here... my baby girl turned 5 this past week. I don't know what it is with 5 but it is totally freaking me out!! Not only me but all my friends who have 5's or to-be fives. I think it is because they are not babies, not toddlers, but kids- little independent- go to school all by themselves and make their own decision- big kids. And I guess because there is the thought one day- they won't need you (me that is). But then I remember, I still need my Mom.... so everything is alright in the world again. And I just have a sassy, independent FIVE year old!!! Who had a rainbow party and I think she had a great time?!!

My attempt at a rainbow cake. It was alot easier than I thought to make- just alot harder to cut than expected. I tried to cut in wedges- like everyone does but it fell over. My Mom suggested I cut it in squares- but I didn't listen- which I should of and I admit it. I should have listened to my Mom- see I still need my Mom.
Mention: Check out Suga' on Facebook. She gave me the inspiration for the suns. The cake and lollipops were from The Decorated Cookie. Fantastic site for this and so much more!

Blue Bear Baby Cookies

Two orders last week for "New Baby Boy" cookies. I was happy to have a chance to "re-do" the bears I did this summer.  I was never happy with them. I have to admit- I like how these turned out :)
